Old Picture Of The Week

Here is a picture of  Coronation Street, Weatherfield in the 1970's, while the terraced row has not changed too much, the opposite side most certainly has, as you can see, Maisonette's were built across from the terraced row, they were terrible, nasty, damp and cold buildings, and very imposing. I was glad to see the back of them. They were demolished following the accidental death of Valerie Barlow, who died due to faulty wiring. The Maisonette's were torn down and replaced with a community center and a factory unit.

Aye, I spotted it on that Rex Features site, I was shocked as I wasnt alive when the street looked like that, it did look nice though

The third picture from the side of the corner shop looks very mordern, are you sure that was the street in the 80's? The street would look great like that now!

It was alongside a bunch of old pics of the street, I think its the community center, I agree it would look great on the street now, it looks like it could fit in with look of the street better than the current buildings :p
