Around Weatherfield - The Kabin

The Kabin is the name of a Post Office on Coronation Street (sandwiched in between Mawdsley Street and Victoria Street). The Kabin is currently ran my a Mr. Norris Cole, you can find him on the social website 'Twitter' under the alias "Norrismole" where he gives followers his own version of the news!

The Kabin was run for the longest time by Mrs. Rita Sullivan, an ex-nightclub singer, Miss Sullivan first opened the shop as a newsagents on Rosamund Street, before moving onto Coronation Street following the redevelopment (overseen by Maurice Jones).

The newsagents became a post office in the early 21st century, and has managed to survive the cuts to the Royal Mail postal services. Though known as The Kabin, the Post Office signage didnt reflect this, until the late 2000's when the sign got a paint job.

When told his shop would make the Recorder this week, Mr. Cole commented "Oh, I thought this was for the Gazette, sorry!" Quite, Mr. Cole...

It makes very refreshing reading Chewy. For those of us who have watched from the beginning, the nods to the past are appreciated.
